What this mold is for
This page covers mold tooling where the casting alloy is a magnesium grade specified on the drawing (for example AZ91-class when called out). Part function and acceptance needs are confirmed per project. Part alloy and mold steel are specified separately.
Tooling scope
- DFM review keyed to the magnesium alloy and part geometry on the drawing
- Mold design: parting, gating, runners, overflow, venting, and ejection
- CNC machining of cavities/cores, fitting, and assembly
- Tryout support and dimensional feedback for first samples
Materials note
Part alloy (magnesium alloys such as AZ91-class grades as specified for the part) and mold steel (tool steel with appropriate hardness for die casting dies) are specified separately. Do not treat part-alloy hardness or surface treatments as mold-steel heat treatment.
