Zinc Gearbox Housing Die Casting Mold
Moldie designs and builds high pressure die casting (HPDC) molds for gearbox / transmission housing programs. We deliver production-ready mold tooling matched to your drawings and casting process.
What this mold is for
This page covers mold tooling for gearbox / transmission housing programs. Casting alloy choice (zinc alloys as specified for the part) is specified for the part; mold steels, bolsters, and heat treatment are specified separately for the die.
Tooling scope
- DFM review for high pressure die casting (HPDC) flow, filling, and machining stock allowances
- Mold design: parting, gating, runners, overflow, venting, and ejection
- CNC machining of cavities/cores, fitting, and assembly
- Tryout support and dimensional feedback for first samples
Materials note
Part alloy (zinc alloys as specified for the part) and mold steel (tool steel with appropriate hardness for die casting dies) are specified separately. Do not treat part-alloy hardness or surface treatments as mold-steel heat treatment.
