Aluminum Alloy Die Casting Mold
Moldie designs and builds aluminum alloy die casting molds where alloy selection and mold steel are treated as separate decisions. We deliver production-ready mold tooling matched to your drawings and the aluminum alloy specified for the casting.
What this mold is for
This page covers mold tooling for aluminum alloy die casting programs in general. Discussions typically include alloy family implications for gating and venting strategy, cavity wear considerations discussed qualitatively with engineering, and tryout sample review. Part alloy and mold steel remain separate specs.
Tooling scope
- DFM review aligned to the aluminum alloy family specified on the drawing
- Mold design: parting, gating, runners, overflow, venting, and ejection suited to alloy flow behavior
- CNC machining of cavities/cores, fitting, and assembly
- Tryout support and dimensional feedback for first aluminum alloy samples
Materials note
Part alloy (aluminum alloys such as ADC12, A380, or AlSi grades as specified for the part) and mold steel (tool steel with appropriate hardness for die casting dies) are specified separately. Do not treat part-alloy hardness or surface treatments as mold-steel heat treatment.
