Zinc die casting

Zinc alloys are cost-effective and offer excellent physical and mechanical properties, making them an ideal choice for die casting molds. Components produced from this alloy are used in various industrial applications, such as electronics. Compared to aluminum alloys, sand, and brass castings, zinc provides superior impact strength and toughness.

Therefore, we manufacture our own high-quality, custom-designed Zamak alloy die castings at an affordable price. These die castings are durable and feature a range of premium finishes, including galvanizing and satin chrome.

What is a zinc alloy die casting?

Die Casting is a precision casting method that uses high pressure to force molten metal into a detailed mold. In zinc alloy die casting, molten zinc is injected under pressure into a mold cavity. This technique produces highly accurate products with all the necessary fine details.

Zinc die casting is one of the most commonly used die casting processes. Zinc alloys are very ductile, making them ideal for die casting. They can expand and conform to the mold under pressure without cracking.

Zinc die casting alloys

Here are the common zinc die castings we use to achieve excellent results:

Zamak 2

Also known as Kirksite, Zamak 2 is unique among the Zamak alloys as it is the only one used in gravity casting. It offers the highest hardness and strength, making it a good bearing material that can eliminate the need for wear inserts in zinc castings.

Zamak 3

Zamak 3 is the most popular choice in zinc die casting. This alloy provides a well-balanced combination of mechanical and physical properties, long-term dimensional stability, and desirable casting quality.

Zamak 5

Containing more copper than Zamak 3, Zamak 5 is stronger but less ductile. It is easier to finish, plate, and machine compared to Zamak 3. This alloy is the most widely used zinc die casting in Europe.

ZA8

Also referred to as a zinc-aluminum alloy, ZA8 is known for its excellent plating and finishing properties, making it ideal for decorative applications. With an aluminum content of 8.4%, it is the only ZA alloy suitable for die casting.

Advantages of zinc alloy die casting

Zinc alloys possess outstanding mechanical and physical properties, making them an ideal choice for alloy die castings. Here are some key advantages:

  • Zinc die castings offer greater stability and tighter tolerances compared to plastic moldings.
  • They also produce parts with smoother surfaces, thinner walls, and more precise dimensions than those made by sand or permanent mold casting.
  • The molds used in zinc die casting are more cost-effective due to lower labor requirements and generally low finishing expenses.
  • Additionally, zinc die castings are highly resistant to corrosion, making them an excellent option for both indoor and outdoor applications.
  • Zinc castings are known for their excellent dimensional stability, which distinguishes them from other alloys. Additionally, zinc alloys possess unique material properties and can be enhanced with various surface treatments, such as powder coating and chrome plating.

Applications in Multiple Industries

Our zinc alloy die casting mold offers effective solutions across a range of industries.:

  • electrical housing
  • furniture
  • firearms
  • automotive industry
  • medical equipment

The industries mentioned have benefited from our extensive range of equipment..

Finishing Treatments & Secondary Operations

To achieve the desired aesthetic, zinc die casting parts require secondary operations. Below are the services we offer.:
